AICHO Gimaajii Roof Garden

Summary

The Gimaajii Green Roof Pre-Design concept is inspired by the AICHO program’s Healthy Living Initiatives. The intent of this design was to create a safe and inviting place for families and residents of Trepanier Hall to use the roof area. Incorporated into the design is a grill area and picnic area for get-togethers. There is a fire pit for traditional ceremonial use. As a part of the Healthy Living and Healthy Child Initiative, there is a space dedicated for a Traditional Herbal Garden, a Greenhouse, an area for some Blueberry building boxes as well as an upper Honey Bee Section. This expanded garden space creates an opportunity for the Gimaajii community to take more of an entrepreneurial approach to their gardening.
