University of Minnesota Duluth – 4th Floor Humanities Office
Project
Summary
The University of Minnesota Duluth determined that the office space on the 4th Floor of the Humanities Building needed to be laid out to be more functionally effective. The previous layout of the office was segmented and did not provide office space for enough faculty members. We proposed two different floor plans. The design chosen involved demolishing interior walls and adding window walls to the interior hall space, providing a more open concept and allowing light into the office from multiple directions. Both options involved centralizing and consolidating the Reception area. In either scenario, utilizing partially glazed panel systems to create personal office spaces for faculty, would allow light to move through the space and encourage collaboration and communication.
