University of Minnesota Duluth – Bohannon Hall Suite

Project
Summary

Bohannon Hall, Room 116 is a 665 S.F. office space for four Education and Human Services Professions faculty and other staff members. The previous space was divided by a tall panel system awkwardly isolating spaces, creating dark corners, and diminishing the ability to collaborate. We worked with Facility Management to create an open space while continuing to provide separation of areas and creating new functional ones. Three of the four faculty and staff work closely together so their space was kept open and connected to allow collaboration. The fourth faculty's space is open but also allows the option to have a private space. An organized work room was designated in the back corner of the space and the reception area is open to one of the three connected spaces. The functionality of this space was greatly improved in layout alone, using partially glazed panel systems and low furniture to allow light from the wall of windows to penetrate the room. This layout has opened up and united the staff and faculty's spaces.
