University of Minnesota Duluth – Griggs Hall
Project
Summary
Meyer Group Architecture assisted the University of Minnesota Duluth on their Griggs Hall Window Replacement and Re-Roof project, which included window and curtain wall replacement in three dormitory buildings and a pedestrian concourse. This project also included upgrades from all aluminum windows to energy efficient units to match upgrades on all academic buildings on campus. Bronze glazing and aluminum frames were selected to match adjacent updated and new classroom buildings. The roof replacement consisted of a complete tear off and disposal of existing roofing and insulation, down to the existing structures, adding an insulated light weight concrete deck. Existing skylights were removed and replaced with wood infill. New perimeter blocking, expansion joints, fascia, pre-finished metal copings, and gravel stops were also added.
